COVID-19 STATEMENT - ESSENTIAL SERVICES PROJECTS
We have a unique position of responsibility during this turbulent time as the UK’s number one civils fulfilment partner, with a duty to support our customers who are working on the country’s essential services projects.
These customers are keeping the nations: hospitals in good working order, working on essential repairs and developments to keep water pumping to our properties and working on projects that keep the infrastructure of this country running.
We have received feedback from a number of our valued customers who are main contractors working on these projects, expressing deep concern that without our support they are unable to complete the essential work they need to do.
In addition the Government has now issued clarification and guidance for us and businesses like ours. They have advised that we are classed as a key business supplying to essential projects in the critical sectors and therefore we should remain open to serve our customers working on emergency repair and maintenance works for the below listed critical sectors.
HEALTH AND SOCIAL CARE
This includes essential projects required to maintain the UK’s health and social care sector and includes those working as part of the health and social care supply chain.
EDUCATION AND CHILDCARE
Likewise our work with main contractors on the supply of products for emergency repairs, maintenance and new builds is essential to this sector being able to maintain their properties and deliver the services required of them.
KEY PUBLIC SERVICES
This includes those essential work for the running of food banks and homeless services and crematoria and cemeteries.
FOOD AND OTHER NECESSARY GOODS
Essential projects for certain retail premises: supermarkets and other food shops, health shops, pharmacies including non- dispensing pharmacies, petrol stations, bicycle shops, home and hardware shops, laundrettes and dry cleaners, garages, car rentals, pet shops, corner shops, newsagents, post offices, and banks.
PUBLIC SAFETY AND NATIONAL SECURITY
This includes the work we do with those critical to the delivery of key defence and national security outputs and essential to the response to the COVID-19 pandemic.
UTILITIES, COMMUNICATION AND FINANCIAL SERVICES
Keyline work extensively with the railway infrastructure, road infrastructure and essential utilities, water, gas and telecoms Following this advice and much consultation we have now made the decision to service customers working on these essential services projects in the critical sectors.
As with the decision that was taken to temporarily close the business whilst we reviewed the Government's advice, making the right decision for our colleagues and our customers safety and wellbeing following the Government latest advice has also been a difficult decision to make - however we are also committed to continue to support our customers in their essential work to keep our country running at this difficult time.
To allow us to support this essential work we will serve these customers through a limited number of Essential Services Branches across our nationwide network of branches. These Essential Services branches will trade with a restricted number of colleagues in the branch, using extreme social distancing, hygiene and safety measures and will remain closed to visitors, with all gates and doors locked for our colleagues' safety and wellbeing.
Our customers and the communities in which we serve will forever remain our number one priority and I would like to reassure that we are taking all steps possible to keep our colleagues at our Essential Services branches safe and in good health. We will continue to review the Government guidance as it emerges and take any steps necessary to keep our colleagues and customers safe.
In the last few days I have been humbled by the efforts that our colleagues and customers have been working to ensure that their essential projects remain on track. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide updates to our customers as the situation continues to develop.
Yours faithfully,
Paul Beaman
