For a Children in Need special, Keyline Leeds has supplied over £40,000 worth of civils materials to help the BBC’s DIY SOS team complete its biggest challenge yet: a new headquarters for women’s charity, Getaway Girls.
Answering a call for materials by the show’s presenter, Nick Knowles, the branch donated a variety of products to support the construction of the new building, including a range of aggregates, kerbs, edging, storage and attenuation tanks, concrete drainage channels, as well as manhole covers and gratings.
Founded in 1987, Getaway Girls offers girls and young women extensive support, counselling, and development opportunities to foster creativity and learning in the Leeds area. After 35 years, the charity had outgrown its original home in and was in need of a new site to cater to its ever-growing network, while also improving access to boost inclusivity. The new headquarters, located in the Seacroft area of Leeds, includes offices, a creche, activity spaces, a music and media studio, counselling rooms and a garden. Crucially, the facility will provide a safe space for hundreds of people to access invaluable support, advice, and companionship whenever they need it.
