GUEST BLOG: SAFE TOOLS, SAFE WORKERS
Guest Blog: Safe Tools, Safe Workers

Provide workers with additional safety when digging around underground live cables and electrified rail track areas with ProSolve’s dedicated insulated range of shovels.

As Health & Safety regulations continue to place worker safety at the forefront of its initiatives, ProSolve are committed as ever to help keep civils and construction workers safe by using certified and quality tools.

Their dedicated range of ‘Insulated Tools & Shovels’ have been designed with protective fibreglass, preventing electrical currents from passing from the point of contact to the user, thus eliminating the risk of injury, or fatality from electrocution.
Tools Designed to Increase Worker Safety

ProSolve’s Group Sales Manager, Dan Ingram comments on why insulated tools should be a staple range with every merchant: “Health & Safety is now the foremost priority of every reputable construction company and we are seeing a seismic shift in product demand from our merchant customers to supply the best products to maintain the highest standards of health & safety protection on site”.

Intended for a variety of uses including digging out trenches, working tarmac and cement and cable and pipe laying. Each insulated shovel is designed to immediately increase the safety of the worker, as well as complying with safety standards.

Each insulated tool conforms to BS8020:2011, this Standard tests products to 1,000 volts, but ProSolve shovels are tested to 10,000 volts – well above what the standard requires, giving merchants and users the confidence that they are fully protected against the dangers of working in the vicinity of underground live cables or electrified rail track areas.
Aware and #ProActive Around Safety

It is essential to choose the right type of insulated tool for the specific job and ensure that the insulation is intact and in good condition. Regular inspections, proper maintenance, and adhering to safety guidelines are crucial to maintaining the effectiveness and reliability of insulated tools.

Those working within the civils and construction sectors are deemed most at risk as cables can run at any depth below surface level and carry voltages ranging from 230 volts (domestic voltage) and upwards. So, whether it’s road works, excavations, drilling and piling, demolition, site remediation or site investigations; have that increased confidence and project efficiency by using the appropriate equipment and be mindful, be aware and be #ProActive in enforcing additional safety measures.
